The territory of Hydropark on Dolobetsky Island near Venice Beach has been historically associated with mass football. Since the mid-20th century, this area was popularly known as Maracana.

Old-timers recall matches with legendary Kyiv Dynamo players – Oleksandr Troshkin, Volodymyr Muntyan, Anatoliy Konkov, Oleh Blokhin, Serhiy Rebrov, and others, who loved playing mass football in Hydropark.

The first investment in mass football infrastructure was made by the charitable foundation “Sport Against Drugs, Tobacco, and Alcohol Abuse.” In 2012, the “Hydropark Arena” stadium was built, followed by three 30×45 training pitches with synthetic turf between 2013 and 2017.

In 2012, the “Maracana League” soccer league was created, becoming Kyiv’s 6×6 mass football championship. In the inaugural 2012/13 season, the “Adidas” Kyiv team won. From 2012 to 2024, 224 teams and 4960 players participated in the competitions.

In 2017, Vitaliy Sydorenko’s goalkeeper school was opened, and in March 2018, Ukraine’s 6×6 mass football national team was established. In 2018, the EMF EURO CUP took place, with Ukraine reaching the top 8. In 2019 and 2021, international tournaments “KLITCHKO CUP” were held, and in 2022, Ukraine’s national team reached the top 8 at the SOCCA WORLD CUP in Budapest. In 2023, Ukraine became the vice-world champion.
